Allen, known for his role as Tim 'The Tool Man' Taylor, expressed frustration over the reboot's progress, citing 'personality problems' among the former child stars Zachery Ty Bryan, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Taran Noah Smith.
The trio, who played the mischievous boys Brad, Randy, and Mark, respectively, have each encountered their own set of issues. Zachery Ty Bryan, in particular, has faced legal troubles, including multiple arrests and a recent felony DUI conviction, which has resulted in a 16-month sentence in California and a 19-month sentence in Oregon for probation violations. Bryan's legal woes extend to a 2023 domestic violence conviction, adding to his troubled history. Taran Noah Smith, on the other hand, has seemingly moved on from acting, with his last credit dating back to 1999's Batman Beyond. Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who played Randy, has also expressed disinterest in returning to acting, preferring to focus on directing and writing.
